Difference Between Dhankesari, Lottery Sambad & Dear Lottery Explained

For anyone stepping into the world of Indian state-run lotteries for the first time, terminology can often feel confusing. Players frequently interchange terms like Dhankesari, Lottery Sambad, and Dear Lottery, assuming they refer to three entirely different games. In reality, these terms represent different facets of the same overarching ecosystem—distinguishing between print publishers, digital aggregator brands, and official government scheme titles.

Understanding these distinctions is crucial not only for clarity when searching for results online but also for verifying the authenticity of winning numbers. In this guide, we break down the precise definitions of Dhankesari, Lottery Sambad, and Dear Lottery, examining how they connect under the legal umbrella of the Nagaland, Sikkim, and West Bengal State Lotteries.

◆1. What is Dear Lottery? (The Official Scheme Name)

Among the three terms, Dear Lottery is the only one that holds official administrative status. "Dear" serves as the primary prefix brand name assigned to daily paper lottery schemes authorized by participating state governments, most notably the Nagaland State Lottery and the Sikkim State Lottery.

Every single ticket printed and sold through authorized retail distributors belongs to a specific "Dear" weekly scheme. For example:

• ▪️Thursday 1 PM tickets carry the official title: Dear Star Thursday
• ▪️Tuesday 6 PM tickets carry the official title: Dear Prestige Tuesday
• ▪️Sunday 8 PM tickets carry the official title: Dear Magic Sunday

Therefore, Dear Lottery is the actual product—the paper ticket you purchase from a vendor, featuring a unique 5-digit number, series code, barcode, and the official state government emblem.

◆2. What is Lottery Sambad? (The Result Publishing Format)

The word "Sambad" translates linguistically to *"News"* or *"Newspaper"* in Bengali. Historically, when state lotteries gained massive popularity across eastern India in the late 20th century, the official winning numbers were compiled into tabular gazette sheets and published daily in regional newspapers.

Over time, the phrase Lottery Sambad became synonymous with the act of checking lottery results. When players say they are checking "Lottery Sambad", they are looking at the published result sheet that displays the 1st prize winner, 2nd prize numbers, and full grid blocks for the 3rd, 4th, and 5th prize tiers. Today, digital websites like LotterySambad.pw act as online publishers of this Sambad bulletin, making high-resolution images and PDF downloads instantly accessible minutes after each draw.

◆3. What is Dhankesari? (An Independent Publishing Brand)

Dhankesari is an independent media and publishing brand name that historically established itself as a leading distributor of printed lottery result broadsheets in physical markets. Much like Lottery Sambad, Dhankesari functioned as a familiar masthead printed across result bulletins.

Many veteran lottery players who grew up reading physical print editions continue to use the word "Dhankesari" out of habit when referring to daily winning numbers. However, functionally, Dhankesari and Lottery Sambad serve the exact same purpose: they are informational aggregation brands that publish official Nagaland and Sikkim state lottery results.
